International Fair Exhibition called Vietnam’s Marine Economic 2008 (VME) is scheduled to take place from March 31 to April 4, 2008 at Phu Tho Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City with the aim of showing potential and advantages of Vietnam’s marine economy as well as calling for more foreign investment in this field.
The event is given the special support and sponsorship from the ministries of Resource and Environment, Communication and Transport, Trade and Industry, and organized by Dai Cat Trade Promotion Co., Ltd.
It is expected to have around 500 booths from companies and organizations in 28 provinces and cities across Vietnam and Asia Pacific region. This is a good opportunities for both domestic and foreign partners to promote their products and services and seek investment chances in the fields of marine mineral research and exploitation, supplies of equipment, machines, and instruments, shipping services and shipping industry, marine services, seafood processing and raising, marine tourism industry, marine environment protection, etc.
Vietnam’s Marine Economic 2008 is not only a good chance to praise the products from the country’s marine economy but also to seek potential opportunities, discuss, and cooperate, and additionally to transfer and apply the scientific achievement and advanced technology, improve high quality products, enhance the competitiveness and to contribute to the national economic development in the international economic integration, remarked Mr. Do Huu Hao, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry.
According to Mr. Pham Khoi Nguyen, Minister of Resources and Environment, VME is a significant event under the policy of the Central Party Committee and the Government, particularly Vietnam’s marine strategy till the year 2020 approved at the 9th Congress of the Central Party Committee. Vietnam is a prevailed marine country with around 53-55 percent of GDP from marine resources. The strategy’s target to 2010 is to create jobs to 2 million employees in aquatic growing and processing industry and attract 4-5 million oversea trips and 20-30 million domestic trips.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, a seminar on Marine Economic Development will also be held to discuss the country’s marine policy, economic and technical solutions to deal with marine issues, and other related issues.
