Chinese Firm to Build US$4-Mln Tourist Complex in Northern Vietnam
The San Yuan Lao Cai Co., Ltd under the Yunnan-based San Yuan Hekou Company February 21 received a license to build a US$4 million tourism complex in Vietnam's northern Lao Cai province.
Located in the province’s border economic area, the 6-hectares project will be home to restaurants, hotels, and entertainment centers.
The first phase of the project will be implemented in the 2008-2010 period and the second one will start in 2012.
The complex is expected to be the first and largest of its kind in Lao Cai city. It will be a destination for domestic and foreign tourists, said Pham Van Cuong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.
Last year, Lao Cai drew 632,000 visitors, including 223,000 foreigners, a year-on-year increase of 13 per cent.
The province expects to receive 800,000 visitors this year, up 30 per cent against 2006. (VNA)
