Tour Prices Soar up on Vietnam Reunification Day

Tour prices are expected to rise between 25 per cent and 50 per cent on the occasion of the Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day, Vietnam tour operators said on April 14.
 
The increases will be applied for both inbound and outbound tours, they also said, adding rooms in almost all resorts are booked months ahead.
 
This year, inbound travelers are heading to central and southern regions where are famous for nominated world wonders, while outbound vacationers want to go on holiday in China, Hoang Kong and Thailand.
 
Europe is also increasingly favored by Vietnamese, especially Egypt and the Republic of Czech, the Saigontourist said, adding that local companies are launching programs to attract their clients.
 
Hotel operators and carriers including Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines have increased flights to better meet increasing demands of tourists.
 
Many tour companies, however, admitted that they could suffer losses due to early contracts signed with clients.
 
Vietnam has now more than 400 international and 10,000 domestic travel firms.
 
The sun warm Southeastern Asian nation welcomed more than 1.29 million foreign tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2008, up 15.7 per cent on-year and down 3.6 per cent on-month.
 
The local hospitality hopes to attract five million foreign tourists and serve 21 million domestic holiday makers to yield VND64 trillion (US$4 billion) in 2008. (Vietnam & World Economy)
