Joint Efforts to Boost Tourism Development of Central LamDong Province
Central Highlands Lam Dong province is taking full advantages and opportunities for tourism development. Tourism and tourism services are aimed as a key momentum for the province’s socio-economic development and have received great support from local concerned agencies.
Lam Dong is paying attention to infrastructure development so as to narrow gap with other cities and provinces in the region and the country. It has completed many roads the province and those connecting it with other localities like Bao Loc – Ham Thuan, Di Linh – Phan Thiet, Da Lat – Ninh Thuan, Da Lat – Dak Nong – Binh Phuoc, Lien Khuong – Buon Ma Thuot, 723 road linking Nha Trang city, Lien Khuong airport– Da Lat roads. Lien Khuong airport has been upgraded to serve both local and foreign flights.
Da Lat city, with much potential, promises the possibility to become a local and international tourism centre which focuses on ecological tourism products such as entertainment, conference and scientific research and high-quality training. Lam Dong owns lots of potential to form attractive mountain-sea-delta tours. It is also suitable for holding tourism events and traditional cultural festivals like Tea Cultural Festival and traditional festival of native ethnic minority people in the south of the Central Highlands and those in the northern region namely Tay and Thai. Other famous events are Hung King Festival and Da Lat Flower Festival.
The provincial tourism sector is developing available advantages to maintain its stable growth. The province is intensifying tourism demand stimulus activities and continues exploiting both potential and traditional markets such as HCM City, Mekong Delta, the southeast, the central and Central Highlands and the north amid the economic slow down. Additionally, it prioritises the development of entertainment and healthcare tourism services, scientific research, sports training and recreation forms at rainy season and at night.
A series of luxury tourism resorts and hotels have been built in Lam Dong, meeting visitors’ increasing demand. The province has received a larger inflow of investors from inside and outside the country as well as a higher number of tourists. Since 2006, it has welcomed more than 7 million of travellers, including 350,000 foreigners. The sector brings total revenues of over VND8 trillion and created some 7,000 direct jobs and over 15,000 indirect jobs. Besides, it has gradually affirmed it as a spearhead sector for the province’s economic development.
