Vietnam Capital City to Host National Tourism Year 2010
The National Tourism Year 2010 will be held in Hanoi along with many activities to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, state media said.
This will be a chance for Hanoi’s tourist industry to boost its image and become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region and the world.
In preparation for the event, the municipal tourist industry has introduced a number of new tours and special tourist products. It will also launch more events to attract more tourists throughout the year.
The National Tourism Year was initiated in 2003 by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
The event is organized in a province or city each year, which is expected to promotes the tourism potentials of a special region to international travelers.
Hanoi aims to receive two million international visitors by 2010. The city Hanoi is not only the tourism center but also tourist distribution center for Vietnam.
At present, the number of foreign tourists to Hanoi accounts for 33 per cent of that of the whole country. (VOV, Vietnam & World Economy)
