Vietnam to See Steady Increase in Int’l Visitors by 2012: RNCOS
International tourist arrivals to Vietnam are forecast to grow steadily from now to 2012, according to a report by the global market research firm RNCOS.
The report said the Southeast Asian country will serve around 4.3 million this year, 4.5 million next, 4.8 million in 2011 and 5.2 million in 2012.
RNCOS’s forecast for this year figure is the same as the Vietnam National Administration of Vietnam’s.
In spite of the global turmoil, RNCOS still forecast foreign visitor growth in Vietnam. The country is among the most popular tourist destinations in the Asia-Pacific region, the report said.
It added that the World Travel and Tourism Council recently listed Vietnam as the world’s fourth fastest-growing tourist destination.
Vietnam received around 4.25 million foreign tourists in 2008, up 2 per cent on year.
RNCOS also said 410,000 Vietnamese people traveled abroad last year. The country’s outbound tourism posted growth of 11.6 per cent between 2005 and 2008.
The company noted that Vietnam’s outbound tourism is expected to achieve annual growth of 13 per cent in the 2009-2012 period. (Saigon Times)
