Kind-hearted Golfers Swing for the Kids

Swing for the Kids 2009 golf tournament will officially open on May 30 at Tam Dao Golf Resort with the aim of raising funds and financial support for Vietnamese children who are facing with difficulties in living and studying.

 

The tournament will take place with the Shotgun start format and attract 144 golfers. Mr. Nguyen Manh Cam, former Deputy Prime Minister and President of Vietnam Study Encouragement Association will tee off to start the charity game.

 

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Investment Newspaper, the event’s organizer, this year’s event will try to call for more funding and allocate 70 per cent of the total sponsorship to poor students and the remainder to partly repairing schools in underprivileged localities.   

 

President of Vietnam Study Encouragement Association Nguyen Manh Cam appreciated the event’s charity purposes and presented campaign medals to members of the Organizing Board.

 

Swing for the Kids 2009 welcomes the diamond sponsor of Vietnam-Australia Steel JV Company and the gold sponsors of Vincom and Long Thanh Golf.

 

To raise more funds, the US Open Champion 2008 picture of Tiger Woods will be available for an auction sale at the event’s gala dinner. The initial price has not been revealed. 

 

The charity sport event has been organized annually since 2007 and gained lots of special contributions from diplomats and especially businessman with the total value of VND400 million (around US$23,000) and VND700 million (US$40,000) in 2007 and 2008, respectively. All the money was spent on providing scholarships to poor students and repairing schools.
