A delegation of seven Austrian tourism companies has come to Vietnam for exploring travel market.

During the seven-day stay, the Australian tour operators are slated to tour Hanoi, Ha Long, Hue, Danang, Hoian, Ho Chi Minh City and My Tho, Vietnam’s tourism centers.

“It is a good sign that Austrian travel companies have come to Vietnam as it remains a little-known destination for Austrian people”, said an official from the Vietnam Administration of Tourism (VNAT).

The visit is expected to bring more Austrian visitors to Vietnam in the future, he said, adding that Vietnam learns more tourism development experiences from Austria.

The trip by Austrian guests is within the VNAT’s promotion program to attract more international arrivals to the Southeast Asian country.

The program is carried out under the cooperation with TransViet, Thai Airways and Accor Hotel Group.

A German delegation will also come to Vietnam for surveying the market in mid-June.

In the first four months, international tourist arrivals were down 17.8 per cent to VND1.3 million, GSO said.

Vietnam has targeted to welcome five million foreign and 21.5 million local tourists this year despite negative impacts of the global economic slowdown, the VNAT said. (News)
