Cashew Export Brings in US$674M to Vietnam in Jan-Oct

Vietnam gained US$674 million from exporting 144,000 tons of cashew nuts in Jan-Oct, up 4.5% in volume but down 13.5% in value from a year earlier, the government’s General Statistical Office said.
 
Between January and October, prices of cashew averaged at US$4,680 per ton, down US$974 per ton from previous year.
 
Last year, Vietnam exported 167,000 tons and earned US$920 million with the average prices of US$5,508 per ton.
 
In Oct, Vietnam is estimated to export 15,000 tons valued at US$75 million, down 2.3% in value compared to a month earlier.
 
Vietnam imports 300,000 tons of raw cashew nut from Africa a year, or 40% of its demand. In August this year, Vietnam imported raw cashew nut at the value US$24,2 million. (GSO, Vietnam Agriculture)
