Enterprises to Join ASEANTEX 2005 in South Africa

Around 100 Vietnamese enterprises attended a presentation of the ASEANTEX 2005 in Johannesburg, , which was held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in Hanoi on August 4, 2005.

The ASEANTEX 2005 is the ever first fair of exported goods of ASEAN countries, which is due to take place in the South African National Exhibition Centre of Nasrec from November 10-13, 2005, to introduce economic, trade, cultural and tourism potential of ten ASEAN countries in in particular and Africa in general. This is also an opportunity for African enterprises to learn about culture and tourism in the ASEAN countries and the ASEAN countries, in turn, to attract tourists from Africa .

The ASEANTEX 2005 will see the participation of textile, garment, farm-produce processing, seafood, canned food, pharmaceutical and medical equipment, cosmetic, PC software enterprises. So far, around 100 enterprises from the , , and , have registered to join the event alongside art troupes from ASEAN and African countries.

VCCI and the Vietnam-Africa Business Forum are expected to organise a delegation of Vietnamese entrepreneurs to join the fair in the hope to help Vietnamese enterprises to get access to South African and African markets. During the event, VCCI will co-operate with ministries and agencies to organise the Vietnam-South Africa Business Forum. VCCI is expected to have proposed the Government to provide support of pavilion rent, transportation costs for Vietnamese enterprises, which will join the event.
