Having received support and high appreciation from the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, the city’s Department of Trade and the Food and Foodstuff Association will organise the 2005 annual food and drink fair to help the local food and foodstuff processing industry to promote trademarks and products in the domestic and foreign markets.
It is reported that in 2004, the event attracted 171 enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City and localities nationwide with around 300 pavilions. During the fair, over 67 contracts of high value were signed. Over 100,000 people visited the fair.
During the 2005 food and drink fair, the organisers will hold many activities, including a vote for high quality and safe food and foodstuff. This will be an opportunity for enterprises build up their prestige, developing and expanding their production and business activities with their high quality products. Also, during the fair, a seminar on ‘Opportunities and challenges of food and foodstuff processing enterprises when Vietnam joins WTO’ will be held with the participation of representatives from associations, trade promotion agencies, and researchers Vietnamese and foreign entrepreneurs, who will exchange their production and business experience and discuss opportunities and challenges of the food industry during international integration. At the same time, contests, such as cooking, tea and coffee preparation, will be held for enterprises and consumers to create a festival atmosphere for the fair. This will be a good opportunity for enterprises to exchange ideas directly with consumers. The organisers will draw entrance tickets for valuable prizes. Those enterprises having beautiful pavilions will be awarded with cups. Also, certificates of merit will be presented for those enterprises which have contributed to the success of the fair. The fair will include song and dance performances of Vietnamese artists.
