Caravelle Hotel: Debuts Nineteen as Successor to Port Orient
Eight years after the Port Orient restaurant blazed new culinary ground on Lam Son Square, the Caravelle Hotel has reoriented its ground floor dining venue with a new name - Nineteen - and a dramatic, high-end makeover.
The reinvigorated, 110-seat restaurant now features imported, Cararra marble, ostrich-leather seating and dark-stained wood-flooring, in elegant contrast to the restaurants’ former appeal as a haven of blonde woodwork and blue upholstery. “We're back and the best buffet in town just got better,” said the hotel’s director of food & beverage, Eoghan (Owen) McMahon. “Our old decor was remarkable in 1998. But in 2006, the aesthetics are all different.
At Nineteen, the four marble-topped buffet tables and one live cooking station have been repositioned to streamline the traffic flow of buffet diners. The restaurant is open daily from 06h00 to 22h00, with breakfast served until 10am, lunch from 11:30am to 2:30 pm, dinner from 5:45pm to 10pm and Sunday brunch from 11:30am to 3pm.
