More than 140 golfers selected from leading and large-scale corporations, groups and companies of Vietnam and some foreign-invested enterprises in Vietnam met together at the Vietnam Businessman Golf Tournament 2006 organized for the second time by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) at Kings’ Island Golf, Dong Mo, Ha Tay province on October 14.
This was one of activities of VCCI to celebrate the Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day, October 13, and a series of important events during Vietnam’s APEC Year 2006, and more importantly, to create good chances for business people to exchange views and experience during the country’s international integration.
The tournament is considered one of the biggest golf events of the year because it drew great attention of golfers who are businessman people only, officials from ministries and governmental authorities, and ambassadors to Vietnam. Especially, it was great honour for the VCCI and the Vietnamese business community to receive the participation of Former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan.
After six hours of exciting and friendly competition on the beautiful golf course of Mountainview, the Vietnam Businessman Champion –VCCI Cup - belonged to Mr. Nicholas Lau, General Director of CICA Vietnam (handicap 10) with the Best Gross of 78, and the Vietnam Businessman Champion –VCCI Cup (for ladies) was presented to Ms. Pham Thi Nhung from Hong Ha Tourism Co. (handicap 18) with the Gross of 95. The Vietnam Businessman Champion was awarded with VCCI Cup and a precious gemstone painting of Uncle Ho made by famous craftsman Dao Trong Cuong who has been recognized as the craftsman with “golden hands”.
The Hole-in-One sponsors of VIDAMCO, Thang Loi Company (VVC) and HiPT offered great prizes of Magnus L6 2.5, TV VVC LCD 37 inch, and ACER Desktop respectively, unexpectedly, no one won the valuable gifts.
Special guests from foreign organizations and companies appreciated the initiative of organizer to host this tournament and do hope that they would be invited to take part in more activities of this kind to have more chances to seek business opportunities and new friends.

The first Vietnam Businessman Golf Tournament was held in 2005 at Chi Linh Star Golf & Country Club in Hai Duong province and gathered nearly 200 golfers from enterprises and organizations of all economic sectors in Vietnam. The Vietnam Businessman Champion 2005 (VCCI Cup) belonged to Mr. Yutaka Morimoto, second Vice President of Nomura – Haiphong Industrial Zone Development Corporation. According to golfers, the tournament obtained great successes although this was the first time VCCI organized a very big sport event.
VCCI is now hurry to prepare for the two more internationally friendly golf tournaments, also at Kings’ Island Golf, to celebrate a series of important events of APEC Vietnam Year, including the tournament for APEC Advisory Business Council (ABAC) on November 13 with the participation of 60 golfers and the other for APEC CEO Summit on November 19 with the participation of nearly 300.
