Vietnam SSC: Foreign Portfolios Rise to US$7.6B in Sept from US$4.8B in May
Foreign portfolios rose to US$7.6 billion in September from US$4.8 billion in May, according to the statistics of the State Securities Committee, the market regulator.
Over the past five months now, the value of foreign portfolios has kept rising, the SSC said, specifying that in May it was US$4.8 billion, in June US$5.2 billion, in July US$5.7 billion, in August US$6.3 billion and in September US$7.6 billion.
However, the net cash inflows tend to fall amid the bad effects of the global economic downturn as foreigners sold g-bonds and stocks of high liquidity, Nguyen Son, head of the SSC’s Stock Market Development Department said.
The SSC’s statistics showed that in September foreigners were net sellers of US$17 million, compared to net buying value of US$38 million in August, of US$56 million in July, US$10 million in June and US$54 million in May. (Vneconomy)
