Vietnam is Potential Market for U.S.: Trade Official
Vietnam’s fast-growing economy is a potential market for the United States (U.S.), Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Demetrios Marantis was quoted by the Vietnam News Agency as saying.
Trade between Vietnam and the U.S. jumped to US$15.28 billion in 2008 from US$1 billion in 2001 thanks to the Vietnam-U.S. Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) effective on December 10, 2001, the official said.
Demetrios Marantis highly appreciated Vietnam’s ability to realize its commitments to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and its commitments inked with the U.S. as well.
The U.S. was Vietnam's largest export market and the biggest FDI investor in the first nine months of this year with respective figures of US$8.197 billion and US$3.96 billion. (VNA)
