Southern Vietnamese beach city Vung Tau is wrapping up preparations for its first-ever host of an international travel fair from October 19-23, local state media said.

Local and foreign tour companies will showcase their products and services at the five-day event which is likely to attract over 500 exhibitors.

The fair will feature related services like restaurants, hotels, banks, transportation, and handicraft products.

A travel conference, music shows, sporting events, a wine and beer festival, and food will be also on show during the event.

The fair will be a good opportunity for attendants to introduce their tourism potential, natural resources and the people to friends at home and over the world, the organizing board said, estimating thousands of guests will visit the festival.

Last year, the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Sea Festival, the first of its kind in the province, which was held from April 11-15 at a cost of VND32 billion (over US$2 million), was said to be the most expensive festival in Vietnam to date.
