Currently, thanks to its benefits to human health, the world market has high demand for cassava starch. Located in a tropical zone, Vietnam has advantages to cultivate this crop and export its products to world markets. Realising the untapped potential of the manioc industry, in 2003, Binh Dinh Export Tapioca Starch Processing Joint Stock Company was established to meet the demand on global markets. This is also the only manioc producer in Binh Dinh province so far.
Binh Dinh Export Tapioca Starch Processing Joint Stock Company specialises in producing, purchasing and processing manioc and other cassava-related products; planting and investing in material zone development; and importing and exporting machinery, equipment and materials for manioc production, and agricultural products. With its skilful human resources, modern equipment, good financial resources, and sound policies, the company has demonstrated its capacities, secured market foothold, and made its name with prestige and quality. Remarking on its achievements in 2010, Mr Do Van Tam, Company President, said: In the past year, the company exported over 9,600 tonnes of manioc, up 10 percent from a year earlier, and earned total revenue of over VND90 billion - a record high.
Besides, the company purchased most raw cassava from farmers in Binh Dinh and neighbouring provinces.
To satisfy strict product requirements from partners and importing nations, the company invested in modern, advanced production lines imported from Europe, which were installed by specialists from Thailand. Manioc products of the company comply with all quality and food safety standards. Its products have been exported to many countries around the world, including China, Indonesia and Peru.
Currently, the company is expanding operating and investing activities and is willing to join hands with investors to expand domestic and international markets. In 2011, the company will raise its processing capacity to 120 tonnes a day to boost export and revenues.
