Tanimex - Long An: Investing in Modern Equipment, Technology

Tanimex - Long An was set up by two military veterans, Nguyen Duc Thanh and Van Vo Hong, in 2001. At first, Tanimex - Long An was a very small business specialised in outsourcing production for big companies. Later, understanding domestic and world market demand for high-quality, hygienic and safe products, Tanimex - Long An boldly borrowed money from banks and took VND80 billion from the Company Production Development Fund to invest in a modern cashew nut processing factory to serve the market. The firm also invested in 10 automatic nut cutters and crackers, six automatic cashew nut shell peelers, three new-generation colouring machines and kernel size separators in order to ensure product quality, and improve productivity and output processing.

 

In addition to powering up Tanimex - Long An, the company’s leaders decided to spend US$1 million to mechanise and automate exported nut processing and packaging. Specifically, the company used autoclave technology to process kernels. Thus, production costs reduced and labour-intensive processes were replaced by mechanised forces. Annually, the company’s sales reach VND700 billion (US$35 million), including over US$30 million from exports. It also actively trains human resources by organising ISO quality management classes, Japanese-style labour management classes and import-export skills classes lectured by Foreign Trade University’s professors. Today, the company has been awarded three Hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) certificates and cleaner production certificates.

 

With its sound strategy, Tanimex - Long An has become one of the most prestigious exporters in Vietnam. Tanimex - Long An brand, with its high-quality, safe agricultural products, is expanding its presence on both domestic and international markets. With its tireless efforts and the trust of domestic and foreign customers, Tanimex - Long An has been named a Top 10 exporter in Vietnam for many years, the prestigious exporter by the Ministry of Industry and Trade for seven consecutive years (2004 - 2010), and Vietnamese high-quality goods producer and prestigious trade name by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for three straight years (2008 - 2010).

 

Tanimex - Long An is making profit and the living standards of its employees are getting better. The company pays all taxes and actively joins in social activities. With its very practical contributions to social and economic development of Vietnam in general and Long An province in particular, Tanimex - Long An received many certificates of appreciation from the Prime Minister, ministries, central branches, and Long An Provincial People’s Committee. General Director Nguyen Duc Thanh has been twice named the outperforming veteran in business, in 2006 and 2011, and honourably granted many certificates of merit from the Prime Minister, ministries, central branches, the Vietnam Veterans Society, and the Long An Provincial People’s Committee.

 

Speaking about secrets to success, General Director Nguyen Duc Thanh said: “Tanimex - Long An has continuously renovated operations, invested in modern equipment and technology, expanded exchange and cooperation, and sought for customers. To have a place on the market, product quality must be top priority.” In the future, Tanimex - Long An will cooperate with a Dutch company to invest in a vacuum fumigation system to replace medical sterilisation methods to ensure workers’ health and environmental sanitation. In addition, the company will invest in two new-generation colouring plants to ensure food safety. Mr Thanh stressed: “With its cashew nut factory modernisation strategy, Tanimex - Long An expects domestic and foreign purchasers will be satisfied with the product quality, and the Tanimex - Long An brand name will shine more vividly on the marketplace.”
