Nam Dinh needs to tap into its available potential to ensure sustainable economic development, said State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan during her working visit to the northern province on February 5.
At a meeting with provincial leaders, Ms Doan praised the efforts the Party committee, administration and people of Nam Dinh have made in the past to develop infrastructure, improve the quality of human resources and enhance administrative reforms to boost sustainable economic development.
The Secretary of the Nam Dinh provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Pham Hong Ha said, despite facing economic difficulties in 2011, his province fulfilled and surpassed its 15 key socio-economic targets with export earnings reaching US$322.4 million, US$42.4 million more than the set target. Its budget revenue reached US$9.5 million, 43.1 percent over the estimates, and total social investment capital hit US$740 million.
Last year, 47 percent of the province’s communes and townships launched movements to build new rural areas, putting Nam Dinh at the forefront of localities in the country in terms of the quality and quantity of units implementing such programmes.
During the visit, Vice President Doan and her delegation also offered incense at Tran Temple in Nam Dinh city’s Loc Vuong precinct.
