During the initial phase of the 2021-2025 term, Go Cong Tay district in Tien Giang province has embarked on a series of cohesive socio-economic development strategies. These initiatives are designed to carve out a novel position for the district and bolster its capabilities, thereby ensuring the successful attainment of the development objectives and plans earmarked for this term. This proactive approach underscores the district’s commitment to growth and progress.

Progressive economic and social development
In the 2021-2023 period, Go Cong Tay district collected total budget revenue of VND378.492 billion, fulfilling 86.12% of the resolution set for the whole term. The district had 89 new companies, equal to 89% of the whole-term target and created jobs for 3,546 workers, equal to 70.92% of the target.
By the end of 2023, the district’s per capita income was estimated at VND69.12 million (US$2,950), an increase of 1.24 times from 2020. Poverty rate (according to multi-dimensional approach standards set for the 2021-2025 period) was 0.87%, lower than the target of 1.5% in 2025 set by the resolution of the current term.
The district has all 12 communes accredited to meet new rural development standards, five communes certified to satisfy advanced new rural development standards and one commune recognized to meet model new rural development standards.
Resolved to build a professional, modern government to enhance business and public satisfaction with the government, Go Cong Tay district has directed and implemented the administrative reform program in a synchronous and effective manner in all industries and fields from district to grassroots.
The announcement and publicity of administrative procedures are fully implemented by law. All administrative records are received and resolved on the province's public service portal, and are linked and synchronized with the national public service portal for people and businesses to monitor and carry out. The district received 19,391 administrative dossiers on the public service portal from January 1, 2023 to November 9, 2023 (48 dossiers submitted in person and 19,343 dossiers sent online). 100% of documents are processed on time and before the due date.
The District People's Committee has also focused on directing specialized agencies and committees to develop digital government, digital economy and digital society. To date, Go Cong Tay established propaganda working groups to guide citizens to register and activate VNeID electronic identification accounts. To date, 86,855 electronic identification accounts have been granted (Level 1: 5,863 accounts and Level 2: 80,992 accounts), 21.5% higher than the target. Of the sum, 75,440 profiles were successfully activated (Level 1: 4,281 profiles and Level 2: 71,159 profiles), 4.58% higher than the target. 135,793 citizen identification records have been received, equal to 99.99% of the target.
Go Cong Tay district has prioritized and efficiently utilized resources for the modern and synchronized development of its transport infrastructure
Increasing infrastructure investment
Go Cong Tay district has focused on developing infrastructure, especially transportation infrastructure to increase connectivity and expand development space. Up to now, the road system in the district has been basically completed and met local socioeconomic development requirements. The transportation system in the district consists of 441 routes with a total length of 526.056 km, including 16 district roads with 81.428 km, 20 commune roads with 47.559 km, 86 hamlet roads with 125.767 km, 293 alleys with 213.675 km, and 26 infield roads with 57.627 km long.
In addition, supported by Tien Giang province, Go Cong Tay district can build key traffic routes, create land funds for development and connect the eastern economic region such as Provincial Road 872B (connecting Tan Phu Dong district), District Road 18 (connecting Long An province), and a bypass road to Vinh Binh Town. These traffic routes have now been completed. The province is building Provincial Road 864 to interlink its seven western and eastern districts.
By 2025, the district will continue to complete the transportation infrastructure as planned. The district will take advantage of the province's investment resources for key traffic routes such as Provincial Road 879D to Long An province, a bypass road (second phase) to connect three urban areas of Vinh Binh, Dong Son and Long Binh and various other traffic upgrading projects to meet requirements on advanced new rural district criteria.
