The Transport Development and Investment Company or Tracodi has received license from southern Long An province authorities to build Phuong Nam pulp mill, with total investment of VND1,600 billion (US$100 million).
Covering 45 hectares in Thanh Hoa district’s Thuan Nghia commune, the mill will need around 600,000 tons of fresh jute to produce 100,000 tons of powder per year.
To ensure sufficient material for processing, the factory is joining hands with local farmers to set up 15,000ha raising jute, promising to buy all fresh jute at reasonable prices.
Presently, jute is selling for around VND260-290 per kilo on the local market. (Vietnam Economic Times)
