Many foreign and domestic investors have showed their interests in golf course projects in the Mekong Delta Long An province, local state media said, adding that eight of them are awaiting licenses.
Four projects are registered by South Korean businesses, and the rest are of the domestic ones.
However, the Long An government has only granted license to South Korean-based Hyoil to build a US$58-million golf and resort project by the Vam Co Tay River in Thu Thua district. The project will be finished by 2010.
The province is considering giving the go-ahead to seven others in this field soon.
To date, foreign investment into golf course construction in the communist nation is increasing.
Currently, there are three golf courses operational in northern Vietnam, namely the Dong Mo golf course in Ha Tay, Chi Linh course in Hai Duong province, and Tam Dao in Vinh Phuc province. (VNA)
