Hanoi authorities have agreed in principle to construction of two complexes of five-star hotels, office buildings and luxurious apartments by 2010 to help the city ease the shortage of deluxe hotel rooms, a local official said.
The hotel located in Doi Can Street will have 27 storeys and at least three basements, and the other at 10 Tran Vu Street will have up to nine storeys with at least two basements, the Company for Tourism and Investment Promotion under the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the project investor said.
Total capital for the constructions has not made available at the moment.
The work of the two hotels is scheduled to be completed in 2010 to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
Currently, Hanoi boasts 34 hotels ranked 3-5 stars, which meet only 70 per cent of international tourist demand during this “hot” tourism season.
The city will receive two million international visitors by 2010 and therefore the city will be short 13,000 hotel rooms, especially in 3-star and 5-star accommodation.
Hanoi is not only the tourism center but also tourist distribution center for Vietnam. At present, 33 per cent of foreign tourists to Vietnam come Hanoi. (Capital Security)
