Tuong An Vegetable Oil JSC (TAC) said it will build a giant vegetable oil plant in southern Ba Ria Vung Tau province, the biggest of its kind in Vietnam.

With total investment of more than VND330 billion and capacity of 600 tons daily, this will be the biggest vegetable oil plant in Vietnam, and the third plant by the TAC.

The plant, covering 8 hectares in Phu My 1, IZ, Tan Thanh district, will offer products which will meet international food safety and hygiene standards like GMP and HACCP.

TAC said that it netted a profit VND1.684 trillion in the first half of 2008, up 63.41 per cent, or VND8.1 billion, against the same period of last year.

The company’s two current vegetable oil plants are now located in Tan Binh district, HCM City, and Vinh City of central Nghe An province, with combined capacity of 100,000 tons yearly.

Offering vegetable oil products since 1970s, Tuong An is now accounting for more than 30 per cent of local market share. (baomoi.com)
