Vietnam Eyes Leather & Footwear Export of US$6 Bln in 2009

Vietnam has targeted to earn more than US$6 billion from exporting leather and footwear products in 2009, according tothe Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association (Lefaso).

Of the total value, footwear products account for US$5 billion, and bag, suitcase, umbrella and hat US$1.15 billion.

In 2008, the industry is estimated to ship abroad US$4.5 billion worth of leather products and US$850 million worth of bag, suitcase, umbrella and hat.

Leather and footwear is now Vietnam’s third largest forex earner. (Vietnam Economic Times Dec 12 p1)
