Vinacomin Jan-Feb Clean Coal Output Falls 6 per cent On-year

The Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) said it produced 5.75 million tons of clean coal in the first two months this year, down 6 per cent on-year.  
 
Coal exports were reported at 2.92 million tons in the period, up 3.9 per cent on-year, the group said.
 
Meanwhile, domestic sales reached 2.42 million tons, down 5.7 per cent on-year. Of the volume, coal for cement factories saw the highest rise, at 62 per cent on-year.
 
This year, Vietnam is forecast to export 19.5 million tons, compared with 19.7 million tons last year.
 
Following a proposal by Vinacomin, the Ministry of Finance last month decided to cut export tax on coal to 10 per cent from February 15, 2009. (New Hanoi)
