The Vietnam Gas Association has recently made its official debut in Hanoi with the participation of over 200 members, Nguyen Si Thang, head of the Campaign Board for the association’s setup cum CEO of Vietnam Liquefied Petroleum Trading Joint Stock Company.

The association is a voluntary institution of individuals and companies trading liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), gas products with origins from oil, gas-related technical services in the Southeast Asian country, Thang attributed.

The association will represent gas traders; support and protect legal rights of local consumers and its members; as well as serve as a forum for exchanging information, proposing policies and regulations for the development of a healthy gas market.

Vietnam now has around 100 gas trading companies, including 10 bid companies that import and distribute LPG in the domestic market.

Currently, foreign-led joint venture companies hold over 50 per cent of the market. They usually adjust selling price monthly. (Labor, New Hanoi)
