Fruit, Vegetable Exports Generate US$91M in Q1

Vietnam is estimated to have exported US$91 million worth of fruit and vegetable in the first quarter of 2009, marking a slight rise of 2.6 per cent from the same period of last year, the General Statistics Office said.
 
But the country also is estimated to have spent US$57 million on importing fruit and vegetable during the period.
 
Vietnam is expected to rake in US$420 million from fruit and vegetable exports by the end of 2009, up 7.24 per cent from a year earlier.
 
Vietnam exports around 260,000 tons of fruits yearly to 50 countries and territories worldwide, with China being the biggest importer. (GSO March Edition, vinanet)
