Apart from actively introduce the beauty of Da Nang beach ranked one of the most beautiful beaches in the world by world-acclaimed Forbes, the tourism sector of Da Nang is striving to build and popularise new products attractive to domestic and international visitors and bring the image of Da Nang nearer to the people.
The reporter has an interview with Mr Nguyen Phuc Linh, Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on the sideline of the recent “Da Nang - sea tourism season” road-show in Hanoi.
Da NangCity has carried out many tourism promotion programmes. How do you say about these programmes and what do you expect from the “Da Nang – Sea tourism season” road-show?
We have launched many tourism promotion programmes to popularise the image of Da Nang. In February 2009, we organised a similar event in Ho Chi Minh City and received very good results. Many travel and tourist companies in the Vietnamese largest city have brought visitors to Da Nang, especially during the recent International Firework Contest. In the coming time, we will a series of road-shows in other localities. In late April, we will introduce the Da Nang sea tourism at an international maritime tourism fair in France and we will launch similar programmes in Japan, South Korea and Thailand from June to September.
Da Nang is very beautiful and its healthy beach is ranked one of the most beautiful on the planet by Forbes Magazine. However, in the past time, we have not paid due attention to Da Nang introduction and popularisation programmes and introductory activities have not been considered attractive enough. Therefore, apart from investing in developing products to attract tourists, we will try to bring the image of Da Nang nearer to the people.
Aside from popularising the beauty of Da Nang beach, does the tourism sector plan to develop and introduce unique products?
In parallel to sea introduction, we will also show places of interests of tourists like Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son and Ba Na - Suoi Mo.
During the International Firework Contest, Da Nang also introduced two new products. The first one is the traditional opera signing at Nguyen Hien Dinh Theatre, which impressed five groups of South Korean visitors. The second is the Ba Na - Suoi Mo cable car system, which set two world records for longest and highest non-stop cable system. At present, the investor has only invested in transportation and will invest in the top of the system. According to the plan, many services will be introduced in the next 7-9 months.
We have just opened a new tour to Son Tra peninsula, which attracted more than 1,500 visitors during the firework contest. We will gradually complete these products, develop new ones and work with travel companies to allure more visitors.
Apart from the above-mentioned tourist projects in Da Nang, we are mulling investment for 46 projects. The city has ratified the investment plan to turn Ngu Hanh Son into a cultural park, a new impressive destination for tourists.
