Hanoi is estimated to welcome just 60,000 foreign visitors in the first half of this year, down 14.9 per cent on-month and 26.9 per cent on-year, said the municipal People’s Committee.
In the same period, the city also saw a fall in the number of domestic tourists due to hot weather conditions, resulting in a drop in hotel room occupancies.
Hanoi will host the National Tourism Year 2010 to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
This will be a chance for Hanoi’s tourism industry to boost its image and show itself as one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region and the world.
Hanoi aims to receive two million international visitors in 2010. At present, the number of foreign tourists visiting Hanoi makes up 33 per cent of international tourists visiting the whole country. (Capital Security)
