Vietnam Economy Expected to Grow 6.5% Next Year: MPI Report

Vietnam’s economy is expected to expand 6.5% next year, up from 5%-5.2% set for 2009, the Ministry of Planning and Investment forecast in a report submitted to the National Assembly’s Economics Department.
 
Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Duc Hoa told local lawmakers on Sept 21 that the government will take measures to achieve higher economic growth rate than 2009.
 
The domestic economy is growing with a faster pace at 5.5% in the third quarter, higher than 4.5% in the first half and 3.1% in the first quarter, the MPI said in a note.
 
Inflation is forecast to ease to 7% this year, the ministry said. (VNA, The People)
