Vietnam notched up US$332 million from exporting 126,000 tons of rubber in the first quarter of 2010, representing a sharp rise of 104% in value and slight rise of 6% in volume from a year earlier, the General Statistics Office estimated.
In Mar, the country exported 50,000 tons valued at US$140 million, sharply up from 22,000 tons worth US$55.95 million a month earlier.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that China remained as the biggest importer of Vietnamese rubber with 51,480 tons valued at US$132.5 million in the first two months, down 1.17% in volume but up 94.6% in value against previous year.
It was followed by South Korea and Germany with total volumes of 4,500 tons and 2,700 tons worth more than US$10 million and US$7 million, respectively. (Vinanet)
