Ho Chi Minh City can save US$1 billion a year from tapping 35% to 50% of the recycled plastic products, according to the Vietnam Plastics Association.
The association said that local businesses must spend US$2.5 billion per year on importing plastic.
The city has 648 plastic recycling facilities in total; however, up to 48,000 tons of plastic waste are still buried a year, the association noted. (sgtt.com.vn)
