The Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Malaysian Embassy in Hanoi to host the Vietnam - Malaysia ICT Business Forum on July 18, 2011. The event concurred with the Vietnam visit from July 17 to 19 by H.E. Datuk Seri Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkilil, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The forum attracted over 100 representatives from nearly 40 leading ICT businesses in Vietnam and Malaysia as well as ICT authorities from both nations.
The forum focused on Vietnamese and Malaysian ICT development policies and strategies in the next 10 years.
Malaysia businesses highlighted Vietnam’s development achievements and expressed their interest in cooperating with Vietnamese partners in implementing such projects to develop information technology and communication. At the forum, businesses from Vietnam and Malaysia signed eight memorandums of understanding (MoU) on services, technology transfer, e-commerce, e-government, and e-banking.
Addressing the forum, Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communications Le Doan Hop affirmed that Vietnam always appreciated Malaysia’s IT development achievements. The forum is of great significance in promoting and strengthening the friendship between the two countries as well as enhancing IT cooperation in the future, he noted. He hoped cooperative ties between Vietnam and Malaysia will be brought to a new high and urged businesses of the two nations to speed up their cooperation.
