ADB to Fund Hanoi’s Metro Line Rail Project

The Government has approved the results of negotiations of the credit agreement and related documents for the Nhon- Hanoi Station Section of the city’s Metro Rail System Project.
 
The Governor of State Bank of Vietnam was entrusted to sign the agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
 
The Municipal People’s Committee of Hanoi will be responsible for directing related parties to deploy the project on schedule and secure investment efficiency.
 
Earlier in January, 2011, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung gave the nod to the establishment of a delegation responsible for negotiating with the ADB for the agreement.
 
The Nhon-Hanoi Station Section is part of a pilot metro line which began on September 25, 2010. This is the city’s biggest public transport project so far.
 
The line has a length of 12.2 km, including 8.5 km elevated and 4km underground. There will be 12 surface and underground depots along the route.
 
The line, will goes through five inner districts of Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Ba Dinh, Dong Da, and Hoan Kiem once put into service by 2015.
