The Government Office recently issued the Notice No. 236/TB-VPCP on the construction of coal transhipment port in the Mekong Delta.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to submit a report on coal supply and demand to the Prime Minister in July 2012 to serve as a basis for determining sources and types of coal supplied to thermal power projects. This will help project investors to sign coal purchase agreements with Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin). The ministry must determine scale and presence time of coal transhipment port; coordinate with the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) to determine the scale and role of coal ports at Duyen Hai and Vinh Tan power centres.
