Swiftlet nest is a rare natural endowment of Khanh Hoa province, which is called the largest kingdom of the swiftlet nests on the planet. Natural swiftlet nest collected on islands in Khanh Hoa province has a very high content of nutrition and perfectly processed by Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company.
In 2012, global economic downturn adversely hit the business community in general and Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company in particular. To deal with unexpected circumstances, the company focused on developing business and production operations, improving technical innovation, and expanding markets. Thus, all production and business targets were achieved. The company’s products like natural original swiftlet nest, natural purified swiftlet nest drink and Sanest drink meet market requirements. The company also actively creates new lines of products like purified salangane nest drink or full nest. With its efforts, the company attained revenue of VND2,624 billion in 2012, up 45 percent over 2011, paid more than VND287 billion to the State Budget, up 15 percent year on year, and paid VND6.8 million to each employee a month on average.
In order to scale up operations, the company has invested in some big projects like Cam Thinh high-grade swiftlet nest drink factory with an annual output of 50 million products, Dien Khanh swiftlet nest material processing factory with annual output of 30 million products, and Sanna refreshment water plant in Cam Ranh Sanna. The company also opened branches in Cambodia, swiflet nest centre in Phu Yen province, many swiftlet ports and shops across the country. Mr Le Huu Hoang, General Director of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company, said the company’s brand value is created by three factors. Firstly, swiftlet nest is edible and highly nutritious. Salangane belongs to Aerodramus fuciphagus germani family which is endemic to Vietnam’s central costal region. Khanh Hoa features the largest concentration of salangane of Aerodramus fuciphagus germani family in the world. Secondly, due to geochemical origin, chemical composition and different minerals in steep granite cliffs, caves, sea water, and wind in Khanh Hoa make bird nests rich in micronutrient and multi-nutrient and locally unique. Thirdly, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company takes the lead in the country in managing, exploiting, processing and developing natural bird nests and is a top company in Southeast Asia to perform scientific study on swiftlet and nest quality. Currently, the company manages 32 islands and 154 caves with swiftlet nests and 18 units and member companies.
In addition, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company has rich experience and scientific research in sustainable bird nest management, exploitation and development in Khanh Hoa province and across the country. Combining business operations with the protection of natural salanganes, the company has applied new progresses to develop salangane population, especially reallocating salanganes among places. The company expects to harvest 3,500 tonnes of swiftlet nests by 2015 and 4,000 tonnes by 2020 thanks to new methods applied. In the 2011 - 2020 period, the company will build more than 1,000 nest shelters across the country, particularly in Khanh Hoa where more than 100 nest shelters will be placed. In 2013, the company started transferring techniques to local people to hatch eggs and raise salanganes.
