Hanoi failed to realise economic targets in 2005 as the export of several key commodities like garment, textile and farm produces decreased. The export revenue to Africa and Australia also missed the aim.
At the conference on the adjusted export strategy of Hanoi in the 2001-2010 period and vision 2015, the Department of Trade of Hanoi proposed a suitably amended export plan. Accordingly, processed products will make up 60 per cent of the total export turnover while the high-value commodity group and service sector will account for 20 per cent. The total export revenues will reach US$6.5 billion by 2010. The expansion of export markets will be diversified, with much priority of commodities and services.
The conference also introduced six key trade promotional programmes until 2010, namely enterprise assistance information, conferencing training and drilling, market survey in addition to trade fair participation, product display organisation and trademark advertisement for Hanoi-based enterprises, trade promotion activity organisation and trade promotion infrastructure construction.
