The Japanese general consulate in Ho Chi Minh City on July 31, 2006, handed over medical equipment and inaugurated the Long Binh clinic in Go Cong Tay district and the Phu Dong medical centre in Go Cong Dong district, Tien Giang province.
Within a non-refundable aid programme of the Japanese Government, a total of US$123,329 was donated the People’s Committees of Go Cong Tay and Go Cong Dong districts to upgrade the Long Binh clinic and Phu Dong medical centre. Concretely, US$73,022 was spent building five more rooms at the Long Binh clinic and buying equipment. The remaining US$50,307 was spent buying equipment for the Phu Dong medical centre.
Addressing the hand-over ceremony, Hirayama Tatsuo, deputy consul general in Ho Chi Minh City, said that medical centres in remote areas of Tien Giang province still faced many difficulties. The Japanese Government’s aid would contribute to improving medical check-up and treatment services of local medical centres, helping easy difficulties of local people.
