The northern province of Hai Duong has attracted a total of US$249.4 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) so far this year, representing an on-year growth of 58.6 per cent.
During the period, the locality licensed 29 fresh projects worth US$206.3 million, up 93.3 per cent in project numbers, compared to just 15 in the corresponding phase of last year. It also permitted 15 existing projects to raise their capital by $43.1 million.
The province now has 111 FDI projects from 19 countries and territories, capitalized at a combined $1.05 billion, becoming one of the top ten cities and provinces nationwide in FDI attraction. Out of the figure, the disbursed capital is estimated at $503.9 million.
In the phase, northern Hai Duong province ranked third in industrial growth during the time at 23 per cent, just behind northern Vinh Phuc province with 23.5 per cent and southern Binh Duong province with 23.4 per cent.
