Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has given in principle OK to the Vietnam National Petroleum Corp (Petrolimex) to invest US$4.4 billion to US$4.8 billion to build an oil refinery in central Khanh Hoa province.
The oil refinery has a designed capacity of 200,000 barrels per day, or 10 million metric tons per year. The refinery will produce LPG, RON92, RON95, RON98, kerosene, diesel, and polypropylene.
Petrolimex plans to start operation of the oil refinery by the end of 2013.
Vietnam is in process of construction of seven oil refineries with a combined capacity of 60 to 70 million tons of petroleum products a year, however, only the first and biggest oil refinery of Dung Quat is set to operate soon, Deputy PM Hai said. (Labor, chinhphu.vn)
