Foreign investment projects in Vietnam were estimated to have disbursed $2.5 billion in the first four months, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Of that sum, Vietnam got $300 million of ODA loans, fulfilling 16% of the year's target, including $239 million of soft loans and grants of $61 million in the period, the MPI said, giving no on year comparative figures.

The Southeast Asian nation saw $2.2 billion of the licensed $6.4 billion FDI projects, down 30.02% against 2008, the MPI said, pointing out difficulties in FDI attraction amid the global downturn.

Vietnam invested VND116.3 trillion in the first quarter, the ministry added. (Banking Times)
