Alstom, a global leader in equipment and services for power generation and rail transport, will put into operation two power plants with a combined capacity of 820 megawatts in Vietnam this year, the state-run Dau Tu said, citing Francois Carpentier, Alstom Vietnam’s general director.
The plants are 460-MW Nhon Trach 1 thermal power plant in southern Dong Nai province and 360-MW Sesan 4 hydropower plant in central highlands Kon Tum province.
Kicked off in March 2007 at a total cost of VND6.45 trillion (US$379.41 million) from the state-run oil monopoly PetroVietnam group, Nhon Trach 1is expected to generate 2.5 billion kWh of power annually.
The three-turbine Sesan 4 plant worth over VND5.564 trillion (US$327.29 million) from the state-owned Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) is expected to contribute 1.39 billion kWh of power to the national electricity grid per annum. (Investment)
