Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi is forecast to see an on-year decrease in export value of 9.9 per cent to US$3.12 billion in the first half of this year, said the municipal Statistics Office.

Sharp declines in world prices of major exports like footwear and apparel have been attributed to the city’s export value decrease during the time, said the office, giving no specific figures.

This year, Hanoi targets to increase the amount of goods exported between 15 per cent and 20 per cent.

In 2008, Hanoi earned US$6.936 billion from export goods, up 35.5 per cent on-year. (Young People)
