The People's Committee of Vietnam capital city of Hanoi has decided to establish a taskforce for stabilizing prices of essential commodities.
The taskforce comprises 12 members from the municipal services of finance, trade and industry, information and technology, agriculture and rural development, representatives of news agencies in Hanoi.
It will instruct local enterprises to map out goods price stabilization plans, collect information about market prices and coordinate with local media to update consumers about price fluctuations.
In early June, the committee agreed to spend VND500 billion (US$26.3 million) on stabilizing prices of nine essential goods this year, aiming to curb the country’s rising consumer price index.
Businesses which attend the price stabilization program will get interest-free loans worth VND400 billion to stockpile goods of rice, cattle and poultry meat, egg, cooking oil, sugar, processed foodstuffs, seafood and vegetables.
The remainder of VND100 billion will be used for aid relief. (New Hanoi)
