External affairs of the southern central province of Binh Dinh have brought out practical effects and bolstered the image of the province in particular and of Vietnam in general in the international community.
Assigned to run external affairs, the Department of Foreign Affairs advised Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee to organise many foreign affairs and achieved positive results. Remarkable foreign affairs include delegation exchanges between Binh Dinh province with international organisations and foreign localities. In 2013, as many as 102 delegations from diplomatic missions, foreign organisations, non-governmental organisations and investors from 18 countries paid working visits to the province. And, up to 83 delegations visited the province in the first nine months of 2014.

Binh Dinh also organised 15 international conferences in 2013 and eight in the first nine months of 2014. Among the most remarkable are physics conferences held in Quy Nhon City by the Meetings of Vietnam Foundation (Rencontres du Vietnam Foundation) in France in cooperation with the Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee. Each event drew some 100 professors and scientists to attend. Such conferences and workshops held at Binh Dinh helped young scientists and researchers of the province in particular and of Vietnam in general to meet, interact and exchange experiences with scientists around the world, thereby promoting the science of the province in particular and of Vietnam as the whole.
On August 12, 2013, the Meetings of Vietnam Foundation collaborated with the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee to inaugurate the International Centre of Interdisciplinary Science Education (ICISE) in Quy Nhon City. This was a major event not only in the region but also in the world, and it drew the participation of more than 200 top-notch professors and scientists from around the world. The successful inauguration helped enhance the image of Binh Dinh in particular and Vietnam in general.
In general, foreign affairs of Binh Dinh province have brought practical results, hence raising the image of Binh Dinh in particular and of Vietnam in general to the world in recent years. The attraction, administration and utilisation of foreign investment capital improved in various fields and added a considerable amount of investment capital for its development. Besides, this is a motivation for reforming administrative procedures, enhancing transparency of investment environment and deepening its integration into the regional and global economies.

In 2014 and beyond, the province will speed up foreign affairs like visiting southern Laos provinces, paying working visits to Japan and Thailand, mobilising aids from non-governmental organisations, building intangible cultural development plans, building cooperation plans with at least one locality in some countries like Thailand and Japan, and coordinating with relevant bodies to carry out domestic and overseas investment promotion programmes.

At the 17th national meeting on foreign affairs on December 15, 2013, Mr Nguyen Tan, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Binh Dinh province, said the province continued to achieve positive results in foreign affairs and contributed to the overall cause of national foreign affairs as well as socioeconomic development. He stressed, “Given successes in foreign affairs in the past time, I place much expectation on the success of foreign affairs of the province in future. I hope to see the robust development in friendship ties between Binh Dinh and other countries in the world.”
