Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended a ground-breaking ceremony for a dairy farm project developed by large dairy producer TH Group in Nong Cong district, the central province of Thanh Hoa, on May 8.
The project was built at the total cost of VND3.8 trillion (US$162.6 million), covering 1,354 ha in Yen My and Cong Binh communes. It has a herd of 20,000 cows and a processing plant designed at a capacity of 300 tons of milk per day.
TH will also develop material areas in Cam Thuy, Tho Xuan and Thach Thanh districts, and work with local farmers to ensure a stable food supply for dairy cows.
Besides creating high value-added agricultural products, the project is expected to generate stable jobs and income for thousands of local laborers, enhance state budget collection, and speed up economic structure shifting.
Advanced technology will be applied for sewage and emission systems, while trees will be planted to reduce the environmental impact.
At the ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong laid stress on the project’s significance, saying that it plays an important role in agricultural restructuring.
Once operational, the project will increase its total herd to 42,000 cows and total milk productivity to 166,000 tons per year, he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Dinh Xung asked local authorities and people to join hands with the investor to remove bottlenecks in land clearance and administrative procedures.
Competent agencies must ensure sufficient power and water, as well as carry out preferential investment policies so that the project can be put into operation soon, he said, adding that the investor should mobilize resources and comprehensively implement economic and technical measures for sustainable development.
