The Soc Trang Investment Promotion Centre, which began operation in January 1, 2004, supports investment activities in Soc Trang Province by providing professional services for investors to carry out their projects, by outlining incentive policies to attract local and foreign investors into Soc Trang Province and by proposing that provincial authorities introduce suitable policies to improve the investment environment. The centre also provides consultancy for investors to make documents for investment incentives, for districts to make formalities to build traditional trade villages and vocational centres, and for non-government organisations to carry out projects in Vietnam.
To boost economic development in the coming time, Soc Trang Province and the Investment Promotion Centre will implement measures to draw domestic and foreign investments into hi-tech applications to agriculture, forestry and fisheries in order to improve the product quality of these sectors for export. The province and the centre will continue focusing on completing infrastructure projects in industrial parks, Dai Ngai commercial port and residential areas and on improving and protecting the environment. Investment capital will be used to develop tourism and trade and the export processing industry. The centre will cooperate with competent agencies to manage the operations of foreign direct investment projects, and define the authority and responsibility of each agency in resettling potential problems.
