Outstanding Potential

According to the latest consolidated data from relevant authorities, following the merger, Phu Tho Province’s economy has experienced rapid growth. In 2024, the province’s economic scale reached VND 345.6 trillion, ranking sixth nationwide, and is expected to reach VND 390 trillion in 2025, 1.56 times higher than in 2020. GRDP per capita in 2025 is projected to reach VND 105.2 million, 1.48 times higher than in 2020. Total state budget revenue over five years is estimated at nearly VND 249 trillion; in 2025 alone, revenue is expected to reach about VND 54 trillion, an increase of VND 8.63 trillion compared to 2020.

The long-term vision for the new Phu Tho is not only administrative reorganization but also the ambition to become an industrial, service, logistics, and tourism hub for the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region, as well as the country. To achieve this goal, at the seminar themed “Identifying Potential and Development Orientation for Phu Tho Province after the Merger, 2025–2030” held in mid-June, Chairman Tran Duy Dong stated that the province has outlined eight groups of tasks and development orientations for socio-economic growth to 2030.

These include: building Phu Tho into one of Vietnam’s major industrial centers in high-tech industries, electronics, automobiles, and motorbikes; establishing and developing a high-tech industrial park to attract emerging, high value-added sectors such as chips, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence; designating the former Vinh Phuc area as the province’s industrial hub; leveraging its strategic location as a gateway between Hanoi and the Northwest region, and proximity to Noi Bai International Airport, to develop Phu Tho into a key commercial and logistics center.

The province also aims to position itself as a leading, branded, and competitive domestic and international destination for eco-tourism, resorts, cultural and historical tourism tied to festivals, and sports tourism. It seeks to develop an efficient, sustainable, and ecological agricultural economy based on high-tech, organic, circular, and high-value agriculture, in connection with building a modern and civilized new rural landscape. At the same time, the province will focus on developing growth-driving areas, economic corridors, promoting regional linkages, and making effective use of development space.

Proposals for Investment Promotion and Enterprise Support

At the conference, Mr. Bui Hong Do – Director of the Provincial Investment Promotion and Enterprise Support Center – reported to the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee on upcoming activities and measures to implement investment promotion programs and business meetings.

Chairman Tran Duy Dong approved the Center’s proposal to organize a specialized investment promotion conference targeting Korean enterprises in Phu Tho, as well as a provincial investment promotion conference and business dialogue conferences to address challenges, foster business operations, and attract investment to the province. He assigned the Investment Promotion and Enterprise Support Center to coordinate with the Provincial People’s Committee Office to develop a process for investment promotion and enterprise support, to further improve the investment climate, enhance promotion activities, and contributing to double-digit economic growth in 2025 and beyond.

During the conference, Chairman Tran Duy Dong and leaders of provincial departments gave input on a documentary film introducing Phu Tho’s investment promotion, tentatively titled: “Phu Tho – A Hub of Connection, Breaking Through to the Future”, with a runtime of 6–7 minutes.

The film highlights the province’s competitive advantages: its geographic location, a vast area of over 9,300 km², a population of more than 4 million people, and its role as a connector between the Northwest region and Hanoi, linking to Noi Bai International Airport and major seaports. This “diamond advantage” opens wide opportunities for transportation, logistics, and investment attraction, positioning Phu Tho as an unmissable destination on Vietnam’s map. It also reflects the province’s multi-sectoral development orientation, strong commitments to accompanying businesses on the path to sustainable growth, and the expanding infrastructure of industrial zones and clusters.

Delegates praised the professionalism of the consulting unit and emphasized that the film should focus on issues of investor interest, highlighting key aspects such as natural conditions, society, workforce, business and investment environment, and transport infrastructure; supplementing statistics and data on development potential; and creating strong and memorable impressions for investors. In his concluding remarks, Chairman Tran Duy Dong stressed that as an investment promotion film, the script must reflect investor perspectives and be tied to the province’s institutional, infrastructure, and human resource breakthroughs. Highlights must be substantiated with images, figures, and data; visuals should be vivid and authentic; the soundtrack upbeat; and the data easy to remember and impressive. The film should be produced in multiple languages, with narration by native speakers. The future development section should prioritize images of industrial production and tourism services, accompanied by commitments and images of provincial leaders.
