On August 18, the Hong Son Commune People’s Committee organized its second livestream session themed “From Medicinal Plants to OCOP Products – Elevating Hong Son Agricultural Products,” aiming to promote OCOP products, connect with consumers, expand markets and gradually bring local agricultural products deeper into the digital space.

The livestream was held at the production facility of My Duc Agriculture Co., Ltd. in Phu Son Village, Hong Son Commune. The program focused on introducing MDA herbal tea products.

A notable feature of the program was that the story behind the products was not told merely through packaging images, but brought back to the source, from the raw material growing areas and production process itself. Viewers learned about the journey from medicinal plants and the selection of raw materials to preliminary processing, processing and packaging into herbal tea products under the MDA brand.

Nguyen Hong Thai, Deputy Head of the Hong Son Commune Economic Division, said that for Hong Son Commune, OCOP is not simply about having another certified product; more importantly, it contributes to changing local residents’ production mindset, shifting from focusing on output to paying greater attention to quality, appearance, branding and markets. From a digital transformation perspective, bringing OCOP products onto digital platforms is opening up additional ways to promote products and connect with markets. Livestreaming allows consumers to see products directly, hear producers introduce the sources of raw materials and production processes, and ask questions during the program. This gives OCOP producers an additional proactive channel for promoting their brands and reaching customers.

Vu Thi Lieu, Secretary of the Commune Youth Union, also shared her views on the role of young people in supporting the promotion of local products in the digital space. The program demonstrated that the use of social media, livestreaming and online communications methods is creating additional opportunities for OCOP products to get closer to consumers, while opening up new approaches to trade promotion. The participation of young union members in supporting communications, engaging with audiences and spreading content across digital platforms also helps bring the stories behind local products to a wider range of customer groups.

In addition to introducing products, the program placed emphasis on direct interaction with consumers. Viewers were encouraged to leave comments and ask questions about the products; questions of interest were compiled and forwarded to producers for responses. This approach shifts promotional activities from one-way communication to two-way interaction, helping businesses listen to customer feedback and gain additional insight for improving their products.

The second livestream session of Hong Son Commune was not simply an online sales activity. More importantly, it was an experiment in innovating approaches to trade promotion, brand building and bringing OCOP products into the digital space.
